So where should we begin?Let's start by looking at how to keep our hair clean. Shampoos are used to eliminate naturally-produced elements like oil and dandruff, but also environmental contaminants like dirt and airborne gases. Unfortunately, most commercial shampoos remove far too much oil (sebum). With a bit of research, you can find good wholesome organic shampoos that work for your hair - not against it.
Bubbles aren't everything
Many cleaning products, including toothpaste, shaving cream, shampoos, and even some aspirins contain a chemical called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). This compound is used to create that extra bit of lather bubbles to give consumers the false sense of cleanliness. A number of reports state that SLS's are a health concern. They may cause severe skin irritation and aphthous ulcers (canker sores). It is recommended, then, to stick to good natural shampoos that are free of any SLS or its cousin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).
